The Vancouver Winter Olympics got off to a great start with a stunning Opening Ceremonies:

Now in contrast, the Toronto Star characterized the show as “an unimaginatively conceived and loosely executed spectacle that promised much and delivered little.” Instead of this dim view I would take the NYTimes “A Tasteful Way to Start the Olympics” as indicative  and then see what the entertainment capital of the world thinks. Go to the Los Angeles Times which has a 42 image slideshow [more than any Canadian newspaper] devoted to the Vancouver Olympics Opening Ceremony. I suspect the LA Hollywood people know a good show when they see one.
